So because I am nosey. I was wondering what 'plan' various people are using to lose weight as a vegan.
I'm doing a weird combination of Gillian McKeith and Slimming World.
With Gillian McKieth I can have my smoothies, but Slimming world makes me count them as 'syns'. I use all wholegrain products, except for occasional white pasta (my best friends dad is Italian and he feels it's a sin to have brown pasta).
It seems to be working.
So what's everyone else doing? Weight Watchers? Dr Furhman? Etc?

I guess what I'm doing is closest to Eat to Live. I'm having lots of green smoothies and salads with beans. I'm trying not to eat grains at all and limiting nuts because I could seriously binge on them. I eat all the raw fruits and vegetables I want. I was trying to do Natalia Rose's raw food detox, but I just can't get into the food combining. If I'm really craving more or if I'm on the run I'll have a Larabar. That's pretty much it. Sounds pretty limited when I type it out like that, but I've definitely never eaten this much nutrient dense food in my life, and it makes an amazing difference in my ability to control my appetite. |

I am counting calories using the Fitday program. You can use it free on the internet or you can download a version for $20. |

I don't really have a plan, I read becoming vegan and it really helped. I suppose also that eat to live also helped me on what I'm doing, I still do silly things like eat junk food once in a while, but it's rare. I've been paying attention to food as fuel for my body, because if I don't take care of my body, no one else will. ._. |

I'm doing Weight Watchers. I have lost 13.5 pounds since January. That's half of my goal weight. I find it very difficult to do Vegan Weight Watchers. A chicken breast is only about 3 points while a can of black beans is about 6. Of course I know that its better for you and that it takes longer to digest and that it has more nutrients and its better for our world but WW is based on points so its alittle difficult to do. I'm not complaining just a fact. Weight Watchers is the only way I can lose weight and keep it off without starving myself. So I keep on doing it. I also follow along on the McDougall website. I'm not a strict McDougaller but I love his plan. I still love Olive Oil and butter (earth balance) Oh I finally got my Cholesterol under 200!!!!! Yeah that was worth it! Peace Cynthia |

I am on Spark People, you can choose the vegetarian version. It is free and I don't use the meal plans, just enter my own foods to count the calories and track my fitness. You can enter your own recipes too and see how amny calories they are. What I really like is it tells you the percentage of carbs, protein and fat you should have and compares it to what you are getting so you can see if you need more protein etc. Then you can also check what your calorie differential is when you have all your exercise and foods entered for the day. I have lost 5 pounds since the beginning of June and my goal is to lose 17 pounds. I am very happy with how it is going. |
